Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to what Berkshire County homeowners ask most — timing, products, safety and billing.

When do you start spraying for mosquitoes?
We start with our first application within the first two weeks of May (there must be leaves on the trees) and you will have coverage through the first two weeks of October.
How long does it take to do the mosquito barrier treatment?
A typical treatment will average about 15–30 minutes. Larger yards may take longer to treat.
Do you spray for mosquitoes in the grass?
That depends on the type of service you prefer. If you are only looking for mosquito control, we do not treat the grass, because mosquitoes don’t shelter there — the most common places to find them during the day are the undersides of leaves of dense, shrubby plants, under decks, and in damp shady areas of the property. If you are looking for tick, flea, ant or ground bee prevention in addition to mosquito control, then we DO treat the grass during the first application in mid to late April, since those pests live in grass, landscaping and leaf litter. For special event sprays such as weddings and large outdoor parties, we will spray the grass as well as the perimeters.
How long does it take to do the tick lawn treatment?
The application takes around 30 minutes, and upwards of an hour depending on the size of the lawn.
How long will each treatment last?
Each treatment lasts approximately 30 days, which is an average of nine days longer than our competitors. That helps you save money by not requiring as many applications to achieve the same level of service.
How long before I can go in the yard after you have sprayed?
After a barrier treatment, make sure the product has dried completely before going outside. Depending on outdoor temperature and humidity, we recommend a minimum of 20–30 minutes. Once it has dried, you and your family may safely enjoy your deck, pool and yard.
Does anyone need to be home when the yard is treated?
No. As long as your gate is unlocked and your pets are inside, our technician can perform the service. The technician leaves a door hanger invoice when the treatment is complete, so you know your yard has been serviced, and a pesticide sign is placed at the foot of the driveway notifying you and your neighbors that a treatment has been done.
How much does each service cost?
Pricing is contingent on the size of your property. Call or email us for a free quote.
Do you offer one-time only treatments for a party or special outdoor event?
Yes. Our Special Event Spray is a comprehensive mosquito and tick control option for any upcoming outdoor event, provided 3 to 4 days before the gathering.
What products are being used in my yard, and are they safe?
Our main barrier spray product is a synthetic form of pyrethrins called pyrethroids. These are commonly used in numerous consumer products such as household insecticides, pet shampoos and sprays, and even lice shampoos. The products themselves are water-based, mixed in water, and will not harm plants. Any product used is registered with the EPA.
Is there an all-natural option?
Yes. We use plant-based essential oils such as clove, garlic, thyme, peppermint and cedar oil, plus IGRs (insect growth regulators) that are non-toxic to humans and animals. Please note that the all-natural spray needs to be applied more often to be effective, and it repels mosquitoes rather than eliminating them. It is a good option if you have a significant portion of vegetable gardens or ponds on your property. Prices may differ for this solution, so contact us for a quote.
Will the treatments eliminate all mosquitoes?
No service can offer 100% protection from every mosquito. There could be times when a mosquito from a neighboring property makes its way into your yard and bites you before landing on a treated surface. However, you will find that the presence of mosquitoes is reduced by over 95%.
Do you service commercial accounts?
Yes. Our barrier treatments are a great solution for many commercial businesses such as restaurants with patios, parks, campgrounds, public pools and playgrounds, sports fields, golf courses, day cares, outdoor wedding venues and schools.
How do I pay for each service?
You can either prepay for the entire season, or after each application we leave you a bill to be paid within 30 days.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes — Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
